Japanese noodle manufacturer sets up shop in Düsseldorf

North Rhine-Westphalia, with its state capital Düsseldorf, is further solidifying its position as a leading hub for Japanese businesses. Ramen specialist Sapporo Nishiyama Europe is constructing its first production facility outside of Japan at SEGRO Park Düsseldorf Flingern. The production hall will span approximately 2,100 square meters. This move deepens the company's commitment to NRW, where its European headquarters have been located since 2014.

Founded in 1963, Nishiyama Seimen specializes in Sapporo ramen noodles. The company supplies more than 3,000 restaurants and retailers in Japan. Until now, the group has produced exclusively in Japan. Its Sapporo plant produces approximately 40 million noodles annually. The new production facilities are intended to strengthen Sapporo Nishiyama Europe’s business in Europe. The company already supplies numerous restaurants across the continent, including the Takumi ramen franchise, which has around 80 locations throughout Europe.

According to President Takashi Nishiyama, the company aims to use its noodles to help expand the success of Japanese ramen culture from its base in Düsseldorf.
