Japan Business Day

North Rhine-Westphalia, with its capital Düsseldorf, is the strongest location for Japan in Germany and continental Europe. Since 2002, the state of North Rhine-Westphalia - represented by NRW.Global Business -, the state capital Düsseldorf and the Japanese community in Düsseldorf, together with their partners, have hosted the annual Japan Business Day, one of the largest German-Japanese business conferences.

The Japan Business Day is an integral part of Japan Day and once again underlines the importance of Düsseldorf as a location for Japan. It is aimed at German and Japanese business representatives.

Japan Business Day 2026

The Japan Business Day 2026 will take place as the economic program of Japan Day and as one of the largest German-Japanese business conferences on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at the Hotel Kö59 in Düsseldorf.

This year, under the title "The realization of the circular economy through the commercialization of new ideas and processes", representatives from business and public institutions in Japan and North Rhine-Westphalia will present their strategies, experiences and application examples.

In light of climate change, environmental pollution, dwindling resources and increasing geopolitical and economic uncertainties, the efficient use of resources is becoming ever more important. The transformation from a linear to a circular economy also opens up new opportunities for companies to develop sustainable and competitive business models. At the same time, implementing a circular economy requires innovative technologies, new value chains and close international cooperation.

What potential does the circular economy offer, particularly for companies in North Rhine-Westphalia? Which approaches have already proven successful and how can German and Japanese stakeholders combine their strengths to jointly develop marketable solutions and realize collaborations? The Japan Business Day 2026 aims to provide insights and perspectives on this topic.

Companies from Japan, North Rhine-Westphalia and the state capital Düsseldorf have been successfully combining tradition and innovation in NRW for many years. Since 2002, the Japan Business Day has fostered the expansion of these relationships and is considered the largest German-Japanese business conference in Europe. NRW.Global Business organizes the Japan Business Day annually on behalf of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, the leading Japanese business location in Europe, in cooperation with the Japanese business community – represented by the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JIHK), the Japan Economic Development Corporation (JETRO), and the Japanese Consulate General – as well as the city of Düsseldorf, the Düsseldorf Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK Düsseldorf), and the German-Japanese Business Association (DJW).

The event is aimed at trade visitors.
