Japan Business Day

North Rhine-Westphalia, with its capital Düsseldorf, is the strongest location for Japan in Germany and continental Europe. Since 2002, the state of North Rhine-Westphalia - represented by NRW.Global Business -, the state capital Düsseldorf and the Japanese community in Düsseldorf, together with their partners, have hosted the annual Japan Business Day, one of the largest German-Japanese business conferences.

The Japan Business Day is an integral part of Japan Day and once again underlines the importance of Düsseldorf as a location for Japan. It is aimed at German and Japanese business representatives.

Japan Business Day 2025

The Japan Business Day 2025, the business program of the Japan Day and one of the largest German-Japanese business conferences this year, will take place on Monday, May 26, 2025 at the Hotel Kö59 in Düsseldorf.

Under the title “Hydrogen Economy – German and Japanese Business Models for the Future”, representatives from business and public institutions will present their strategies, experiences and application examples.

Germany and Japan have recognized hydrogen as a global growth market and established it as a strategic pillar of their climate strategies. Companies of all sizes have the opportunity to develop new business models, advance technologies and participate in one of the most promising markets of the future. But what opportunities does the hydrogen economy offer, especially in North Rhine-Westphalia? What progress has been made and how can German and Japanese stakeholders work together on a global hydrogen economy – whether in the B2B sector or in public-private partnerships?

The strong companies and SMEs in Japan, North Rhine-Westphalia and the state capital Düsseldorf successfully combine tradition and innovation. The Japan Business Day promotes mutual exchange and opens up opportunities for cooperation.

The event is aimed at trade visitors.

The Japanese Chamber of Industry and Commerce (JIHK) in Düsseldorf has been representing the interests of its predominantly Japanese member companies as a registered association since 1966. With more than 530 members, it is the largest representation of Japanese companies in Europe.

The JIHK's objective is to facilitate economic relations between Germany and Japan, enhance the local environment for Japanese companies, and support the business activities of its members. To this end, the JIHK provides business-related information, publications, and seminars in Japanese, as well as tailored advice for its members.
