Circular approaches are increasingly shaping the planning and renovation of existing buildings in the construction industry. Switzerland is one of the countries that integrated new methods for resource-efficient renovation and construction into planning practices and regulations early on. Reuse strategies, selective demolition, and the use of reusable and recycled building materials are now integral to specific construction projects. Following the 2025 amendment to the Swiss Environmental Protection Act, circular construction methods gained additional significance and increasingly influence public tenders and municipal strategies for existing buildings.
From June 23 to 25, 2026, NRW.Global Business is offering a trip for companies and economic development agencies from NRW to provide an overview of current approaches in Swiss construction practice. As part of the delegation meeting, various stops in Zurich and Basel are on the agenda, together with a Dutch delegation.
Planned activities include expert briefings and discussions with municipal clients, research institutions, and industry organizations. There will also be site visits to current examples of circular retrofits, as well as a pitch session to present proprietary technologies and strengthen ties with potential partners.
The registration deadline is April 30, 2026. Registration information is available on the NRW.Global Business website.
