Japan Business Day 2024

Japan Business Day 2024

Japan Business Day 2024 took place as the business program of Japan Day and one of the largest German-Japanese business conferences on Monday, May 27, 2024 at Hotel Kö59 in Düsseldorf.

This year, representatives of Japanese and German companies presented future prospects and applications on the topic of "German and Japanese Open Innovation Strategies for a Better Future".

Global networking, rapid technological change, increased demands on sustainability goals, and shorter product life cycles are putting companies under great pressure to innovate – not only in Germany, but also in Japan. For years, many companies have been successfully implementing open innovation strategies, in which they open up their own innovation process to external ideas, technologies or expertise in order to increase their own innovation potential and secure competitive advantages. They often involve customers, universities, research institutes or start-ups in the process.

What do successful open innovation strategies look like? What foundations must they be based on? And what country-specific differences in open innovation strategies are there between Germany and Japan?

Large companies and strong SMEs in Japan, North Rhine-Westphalia, and the state capital of Düsseldorf have often demonstrated an ability to combine traditional strengths and innovative ability in an excellent way. It is our hope that the exchange at the Japan Business Day will contribute to this and open up opportunities for cooperation.

The event was aimed at trade visitors.
