Talent from India for NRW’s skilled trades sector

Around 15 per cent of all businesses in NRW are skilled trades businesses. The “Talent Bridge India & NRW” project aims to strengthen this economic sector by helping small and medium-sized skilled trades businesses in NRW find apprentices and qualified staff. At the same time, it creates career opportunities in the German skilled trades sector for talented individuals from India.

The project is being implemented jointly by the Landes-Gewerbeförderungsstelle des nordrhein-westfälischen Handwerks e. V. (LGH) and the international office of NRW.Global Business, with funding from the NRW Ministry of Economic Affairs. The selection of suitable skilled workers is handled by the international office of NRW.Global Business in Bangalore.

The bilingual project website brings together information for skilled trades businesses and talent from India. Companies receive an overview of the program and the placement process, while interested individuals from India can learn about potential employers through company profiles. This facilitates contact between companies and potential skilled workers.

The project places talented individuals in apprenticeships and provides comprehensive preparation and support as they begin their lives and careers in Germany. NRW.Global Business assists with organizational matters prior to their arrival and integration into the workplace and everyday life. Additionally, events and networking opportunities encourage interaction among the apprentices, as well as with the Indian community in NRW.

The goal is to devise a long-term strategy for recruiting international skilled workers. The first young professionals were placed with training companies in NRW in the summer of 2026.
