Hospitals all over the world use catheters made by Vygon. Since the founding of the German branch in 1968, the company in Aachen has grown continuously and now possesses unique know-how worldwide – for example in the production of particularly small catheters for infants and premature babies.
Vygon currently produces one million catheters per year in Aachen, thereby generating 25 percent of German sales. In order to increase production and make processes even more efficient, the location on Prager Ring is to be expanded. "In future, we will only produce at one level. This means that the material no longer has to be lifted and lowered by elevators," explains Vygon Managing Director Raymund Heiliger. The company is investing around six million euros in the construction of a new production building. "A clear commitment to our location in Aachen," says Heiliger.
The new plant will border the existing company building and offer around 3,000 square meters of new capacity. Construction began this summer and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2020. The aim is to increase production in Aachen to up to two million catheters per year. As part of the expansion, 50 new jobs will be created.
