Innovation and climate protection: NRW funding programs for industry

Many companies in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) are facing high demands due to increasing international competitive pressure and the transformation of industrial processes towards climate neutrality and a circular economy. To secure production sites and enable technological renewal, the state relies on targeted funding instruments. The complementary programs “Produktives.NRW“ und “Zirkuläre Produktion“ aim to modernize existing industrial facilities and develop sustainable production approaches.

For the fourth time, the "Produktives.NRW" funding call is supporting companies in investing in modern production sites. Funding is available for new locations and expansions of existing businesses, such as establishing new production lines or expanding manufacturing capacities. These investments must be made in areas focused on key technologies. These include digital and technology-intensive innovations, such as AI, robotics, semiconductor and sensor technologies; resource-efficient processes, such as recycling, hydrogen, and energy storage technologies; and biotechnological applications. 

In addition, the "Zirkuläre Produktion" (ZiPo.NRW) call for proposals focuses on the shift towards resource-efficient products and processes. Funding is available for projects that incorporate circular principles into their design, such as reduced material use, durable and sustainable materials, modular construction methods, and upgradable products. The goal is to develop solutions with extended life cycles that set new industrial standards.
