One of the leading air conditioning companies from the USA has set up shop on a former industrial wasteland in Oberhausen: Trane Technologies celebrated the opening of its new Customer Innovation Center in June. The 14,000 square meter site serves as a Center of Excellence (CoE) for electrification. Here, the company showcases its sustainable heating and cooling solutions. Green electric drive solutions and components for transport refrigeration units are developed in a dedicated test lab. The CoE also has test and maintenance facilities. A rental solutions center is also located at the site: Heating, cooling and refrigeration equipment is rented on a short and long term basis.
Trane Technologies has invested a total of 16 million euros in Oberhausen. In doing so, the US company is significantly strengthening its business in Germany. The facility itself is also designed with sustainability in mind: Thanks to an air-to-water heat pump, the buildings can be heated and cooled without fossil fuels. An intelligent building management system from Trane is also used.
