The US company Solventum, the healthcare division of the 3M Group that was spun off in April 2024, has expanded its production capacity in Wuppertal. The company invested 40 million euros in a new production line for 3M Liqui-Cel membrane contactors, which are used in various industries such as pharmaceutical production and beverage production for water degassing and pure water production.

Solventum plans to triple its current production by 2025, which will significantly strengthen the position of the more than 100-year-old plant in Wuppertal, which employs approximately 700 people.

This investment will be followed by others at the Wuppertal site: At the opening, Solventum announced that it will also invest in the production of oxygen enrichment products and membranes for artificial lungs. With its purification and filtration solutions, the company contributes to more effective treatment options with medical devices and clean drinking water, among other things.
