In its annual location survey, the Financial Times examines which cities and regions in Europe are most attractive for investment. The ranking is based on extensive data collected by its subsidiary fDi Intelligence. The current study "European Cities and Regions of the Future 2025" once again confirms the economic strength of NRW.

In the overall ranking of large regions, NRW ranked third as the most attractive region in Germany, behind Greater London and Paris (Île-de-France). NRW also performed extremely well in the overall ranking of large cities: Düsseldorf and Cologne ranked 4th and 6th respectively.

NRW is particularly strong in the "Connectivity" subcategory, where it ranks first. The excellent logistics infrastructure, good international accessibility, digital networking and high Internet speed make NRW a particularly competitive business location in this area.

The state also achieved a top ranking in the subcategory "Business Friendliness". Third place shows that NRW offers particularly attractive economic conditions for companies. In addition to the number of expansion projects or knowledge-based companies, aspects such as economic stability, freedom from corruption and legal certainty also play a role.

NRW also ranks among the top five regions in Europe in the areas of "Economic Potential" and "Human Capital and Lifestyle". Factors such as gross domestic product, population growth and the large number of international direct investments were included in the assessment. At the same time, NRW offers the best conditions for innovation and long-term business success, with a high density of universities, excellent research facilities and a well-educated talent pool.

With over 24,000 international companies, an efficient industry and an excellent research and university network, North Rhine-Westphalia remains one of Europe's leading economic regions.
